Abstract:
The Transformer Overheat Detection System circuit is based on readily available NTC, LM393 comparator IC, and relay. The NTC is used as the temperature detector, while IC LM393 serves as the comparator. In normal conditions, with no heat, the temperature sensor stops conducting, and the LED stays off. When the temperature rises, the NTC begins conducting, activating the LED and buzzer.
Application of the Circuit:
Most overheat detection systems rely on costly NTCs and complex circuitry. This NTC-based circuit utilizes readily available components, reducing cost and complexity. The Transformer Overheat Detection System circuit automatically activates the LED and buzzer when temperature rises, providing continuous visual and audible alerts.
Why This Circuit?
The NTC sensor allows easy temperature adjustments by placing a soldering gun close to it. Operating at a DC voltage of 5V, the circuit is simple to integrate into various applications.
Explained Working of Circuit:
The LM393 comparator checks the NTC sensor. When the NTC detects a temperature rise, it conducts, activating the LED and buzzer. The relay acts as a switch, with normally closed contacts opening and normally open contacts closing when activated. This ensures that the LED and buzzer turn on only when temperature exceeds the threshold.
Building the Kit:
Thoroughly review the manual and circuit diagrams before assembly. Solder components on the PCB correctly, paying attention to polarity-sensitive components. Use IC sockets for easier troubleshooting.
Testing the Kit:
After assembling, connect a 5V DC power source. Hold a soldering gun near the NTC to test the system. Adjust the R2 variable resistor to set the desired detection intensity. Install the unit in your desired location for reliable operation.
