For example, if your motor draws 5A at 12V, ensure the MOSFET you choose can handle both the voltage and current in the SOA graph.

       

      Practical Example :

       

      Suppose you’re using a MOSFET rated for 10A and 30V, but your motor draws 12A at 20V. According to the SOA graph, the MOSFET may not handle this combination without overheating. A quick solution: choose a MOSFET with a higher current rating, like a 15A, 40V model.

       

      Sample Calculation :

       

      Let’s calculate power dissipation in the MOSFET :

      Power = Voltage x Current = 20V x 12A = 240W

      If the MOSFET can handle this power in its SOA, you’re good to go!
