Reverse Current Protection for Displays (Made in India)

⚠️ The Problem :
When powering off or switching sources, a reverse current can sneak into your display module—especially in shared supply systems. This backflow can damage delicate display drivers, flicker the screen, or even reduce the display’s lifespan.
🛠️ The Solution :
To prevent this, use a Schottky diode or a P-channel MOSFET in reverse protection mode. These act like one-way valves—allowing power to flow to the display but blocking current from flowing backward. Schottky diodes are great for low current loads, while MOSFETs offer higher efficiency for larger displays.
🔌 Practical Example :
Imagine you’re using a 5V LCD with multiple power sources (e.g., USB + battery). When USB is unplugged, battery current can flow into the USB line and damage the LCD’s power rail. Add a 1N5819 Schottky diode, and reverse current is blocked instantly—your display stays safe.
📐 Sample Calculation :
Let’s calculate the power drop across a Schottky diode:
Forward Voltage Drop (Vf) ≈ 0.3V
Load Current = 100mA
Power Loss = V × I = 0.3V × 0.1A = 30mW
Efficient and effective!
