To fix this, you can use gate resistors to dampen the transitions and reduce noise. Practical Example :

 

Think of it like a doorbell that rings too loudly when you press the button. You can reduce the noise by adding a dampening material to the bell or adjusting the circuitry. Similarly, by adding a resistor in series with the MOSFET gate, you reduce the sharpness of the switching transition, cutting down the noise.

 

Sample Calculation :

 

Suppose your MOSFET gate capacitance is 10nF, and you want to limit the charging current to 5mA.

Using the formula:

Where:

  • V is the gate voltage (let’s say 10V),
  • I is the desired current (5mA).

Calculating this, we get:

R=0.005A10V=2000 Ω

So, a 2kΩ resistor would work well for controlling the gate charging current, reducing noise.
