Abstract:
The Transformer Vibration Detection circuit utilizes a readily available vibration sensor (piezoelectric sensor) and comparator IC LM393. The vibration sensor detects vibrations, and IC LM393 operates as a comparator. When no vibrations are detected, the piezoelectric sensor stops conducting, and the LED remains off. Upon detecting vibrations, the piezoelectric sensor conducts, activating the LED.
Application of the circuit:
Many vibration sensor-based circuits on the market rely on costly and complicated sensors. However, this circuit uses a readily available piezoelectric crystal as a vibration detector, simplifying and reducing the cost. The circuit automatically activates the LED in the presence of vibrations, with continuous LED indication until vibrations cease.
Why this particular circuit:
This circuit uses a piezoelectric sensor to detect vibrations. The 5V DC supply ensures compatibility with various setups, making it ideal for automation, robotics, and educational projects.
Explained working of the circuit:
The circuit’s purpose is to turn on the LED when vibrations are detected. The piezoelectric sensor converts vibrations into electric energy, activating the LM393 comparator. When vibrations are detected, the LED glows. If no vibrations are present, the LED stays off.
How to build:
Thoroughly read the manual, study the circuit diagram, and check the PCB and components. Identify and solder the components according to the provided PCB layout and manual instructions. Ensure correct polarity, especially for diodes and capacitors. Use sockets for ICs for easy troubleshooting and replacement.
Testing the kit:
After assembling the components on the PCB, connect a 5V DC power source. Apply vibrations to the piezoelectric sensor – the LED should glow. Adjust the resistive value of the R2 variable resistor to set the desired sensitivity. Install the unit, such as on the ceiling, for real-world vibration detection.
